That’s one of the reasons why safety training is so important, as well as compliance with all the UK’s **[health and safety in roof work regulations](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/safety-regulations-to-follow-when-working-at-height-ability-international)**. Whether you work on the roof yourself or supervise a team, ensuring you have adequate knowledge of the working-on-roofs safety requirements is vital to avoid any potential problems. Adhering to all the regulations covering health and safety in roof work demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of your workers, as well as reducing accident rates and ensuring high-quality work. Such reliability helps build trust with your clients, leading to more business opportunities and a positive standing within the industry. Here we explain in further detail exactly why you need to get **[roof safety training](https://www.abilityint.com/working-at-height-guide)** for each of your employees working on roofs. [![Request A Quote](https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/7885436/interactive-190412425768.png)](https://www.abilityint.com/hs/cta/wi/redirect?encryptedPayload=AVxigLKYIWVwjkYALKdDdmnfK%2BLl9T9N507rZ4cTHXnV7K%2BXEy8jbQF%2FaZyUuwZu7epuMl%2FzAya1NeF9nM7Pgcwc6hnmVRm%2BGdVKpk2YwMw7a8NEri6r8VsAQLnKMRbguDkV5MI1O7tfq9jrXCAvBDrViL%2BCzRRptN%2FHRdQvJ%2BMeF8DLzwItz7db%2FUke&webInteractiveContentId=190412425768&portalId=7885436) ## Regulation Requirements Roof safety training provides you and your team with information regarding the importance of compliance and applicable standards and codes of practice. Every member of your staff needs to be aware of what should and should not be done when working at such height and on a potentially unstable surface such as a roof. ## Statistics for Work-Related Accidents Data published by the HSE reveals that roof work accounts for a quarter of all deaths in the construction industry, which itself has twice as many work-related deaths as the second placed sector. With falling from height accounting for so many preventable accidents, there is no doubt that roof safety training should be a priority for **[any business with employees working at height](https://www.abilityint.com/working-at-height-guide)**, particularly on roofs. ## Fall Protection **[Health and safety in roof work](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/how-risk-assessments-save-lives)** mean roof workers know how to prevent falls and keep themselves and their workmates safe. Roof safety training is essential for this as it provides employees with the knowledge needed to use fall protection equipment effectively. From a purely business perspective, ensuring your staff has full roof safety training and knowledge of fall protection will help protect your company from potential lawsuits and a damaged reputation. ## Working Environment Before accessing any roofs, it is the responsibility of the employer to ensure the working environment is safe for their employees. This means checking that the necessary measures have been put in place for their employees to stay safe. By also providing your employees with roof training safety by the regulations covering health and safety in roof work, you ensure that your employees know if such measures are being respected or not. This is vital as some sites may have many different contractors working in and around each other, with some not possessing the roof safety knowledge required to work safely at heights. In such instances, your fully trained employees will recognise any potential hazards being presented by other workers not in your employ and be able to communicate their concerns with you immediately. **[Check our training options](https://www.abilityint.com/training)** to learn more about roof safety training and health and safety in roof work. - Recent - Topics - Archive Recent Topics - [Working At Height (70)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/working-at-height) - [injuries at work (23)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/injuries-at-work) - [Working at heights (22)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/working-at-heights) - [Work At Height Equipment (21)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/work-at-height-equipment) - [desksurfer (20)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/desksurfer) - [Working At Height Equipment (16)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/working-at-height-equipment) - [Health & Safety (10)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/health-safety) - [access platform (7)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/access-platform) - [Scaffold tower hire (6)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/scaffold-tower-hire) - [injuries (4)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/injuries) - [Rent a scaffold tower (3)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/rent-a-scaffold-tower) - [Scaffold tower for sale (3)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/scaffold-tower-for-sale) - [Work At Height Violation (3)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/work-at-height-violation) - [work related injuries (3)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/work-related-injuries) - [Chimney Access (2)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/chimney-access) - [Scaffold tower lease (1)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/scaffold-tower-lease) - [Servicing Work Equipment (1)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/servicing-work-equipment) - [case studies (1)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/case-studies) - [scary facts (1)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/scary-facts) See all Archive - [August 2026 (2)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2026/08) - [July 2026 (2)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2026/07) - [June 2026 (4)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2026/06) - [May 2026 (2)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2026/05) - [April 2026 (2)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2026/04) - [January 2026 (1)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2026/01) - [December 2025 (1)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2025/12) - [November 2025 (1)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2025/11) - [August 2025 (109)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2025/08) - [May 2025 (2)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2025/05) - [April 2025 (3)](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/archive/2025/04) See all ### Subscribe by email Share this [Share on X](https://x.com/intent/post?url=https://www.abilityint.com/blog/why-is-roof-safety-training-essential-ability-international&text=Why+Is+Roof+Safety+Training+Essential%3F+-+Ability+International) [Share on Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=https://www.abilityint.com/blog/why-is-roof-safety-training-essential-ability-international&t=Why+Is+Roof+Safety+Training+Essential%3F+-+Ability+International) [Share on LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://www.abilityint.com/blog/why-is-roof-safety-training-essential-ability-international&t=Why+Is+Roof+Safety+Training+Essential%3F+-+Ability+International) Previous story [← How To Stay Safe When Working At Height In Hot Weather](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/how-to-stay-safe-working-at-height-in-hot-weather) Next story [UK Finds No Improvements In Falls From Height: Our Response →](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/our-response-uk-finds-no-improvements-in-falls-from-height) ## You May Also Like These Related Stories [Working At Height Safety Breaches Have Rocketed 84%](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/working-at-height-safety-breaches-have-rocketed-84-ability-international) ![Working At Height Safety Breaches Have Rocketed 84%](https://www.abilityint.com/hubfs/Images/josue-isai-ramos-figueroa-qvBYnMuNJ9A-unsplash-1-1024x746.webp) [injuries at work](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/injuries-at-work) ### Working At Height Safety Breaches Have Rocketed 84% Aug 22, 2025, 11:39:09 AM 2 min read [Are Construction Workers And Chimney Sweeps Under Too Much Pressure?](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/are-construction-workers-and-chimney-sweeps-under-pressure) ![Construction hats stacked up ready for working at height](https://www.abilityint.com/hubfs/Images/Are-Construction-Workers-Under-Too-Much-Pressure.webp) [Working At Height](https://www.abilityint.com/blog/tag/working-at-height) ### Are Construction Workers And Chimney Sweeps Under Too Much Pressure?
