| Extracts from Test Report: "The right angle couplers and swivel couplers tested met the specifications of the relevant section of BS1139:1991, provided they were secured with nuts torque tightened to 55Nm. It should be noted that this torque or more can be achieved with a 'standard' scaffolding wrench. It should be noted that specifically modified wrench and torque wrench adaptor is required if 'wing' nuts are used". Info., 55Nm=40.3 Ibf.ft. | |||
| SAFE WORKING LOAD - 500 Kgs (tensile load with a safety factor of 8) | |||
| Note: Refer to the manufacturers/suppliers specification or advice when coupling onto aluminium towers, especially ones with thin wall tubing . The main considerations are:-over tightening when couplers are fitted with nuts; over tightening and crushing thin wall tubing; poor slip resistance when couplers are fitted with wing nuts - in these cases ensure couplers have check fitting to prevent slipping or are located above a check point e.g. a tee piece joint; using the appropriate couplers for the applications and using extra couplers if necessary; if in doubt contact your manufacturer/supplier | |||
